Deeply inspired by Mother Nature and horticulture, the works of Mr Atsuro Tayama, Creative Director of the eponymous brand, pays homage to both motifs through his fashion creations. The “Aso-inspired Artistry” collection for Pre-Fall 2024 draws on Mount Aso in Kumamoto Prefecture, Mr Tayama’s hometown, to conjure a new take on the brand’s signature soft avant-garde style, expressed in the language of empowered femininity through abstract prints.

Soft Avant Garde Style in Abstract Prints

The majestic Mount Aso and the emotional stir it inspired are channelled in the Pre-Fall 2024 Collection, an anthem of the beloved and revered volcano envisioned by ATSURO TAYAMA through the play of colours, textures and prints in the design lexicon of Soft Avant Garde.

Building on the mysterious black colourway, the Pre-Fall 2024 Collection is enriched with prints inspired by volcanic ranges and smoke in a seasonal palette of warm, saturated hues such as apricot, burnt orange and aqua blue. The Soft Avant Garde style gets a seasonal makeover with new elements including reversed design, asymmetry, blow-up details and oversized silhouettes, overlapping prints and notably, the latest 2-way design and see-through blouse. Mr Tayama blends together his aesthetic prowess and the Soft Avant Garde style in a new take on these idiosyncratic elements to empower the ASTURO TAYAMA girl with the untamed spirit of Mount Aso. 

The Pre-Fall 2024 also features timeless denim pieces in a chic and relaxed style informed by the design ingenuity of Mr Tayama. Cropped and baggy pieces are perfect transitional essentials for early autumn, particularly the washed denim with Avant Garde patchwork design that is classic, casual and feminine at once.
