Korea’s highly popular tteokbokki chain Young Dabang has been warmly welcomed by Hong Kong diners. The brand is now thrilled to announce the grand opening of its second location at Times Square, Causeway Bay on 3 February 2026. To celebrate the new shop opening and thank customers for their support, the new location will feature an exclusive “Dabang Pork Back Rib Tteokbokki Pot” dish, along with interactive games and special offers, providing not just authentic Korean flavors but also a uniquely fun dining experience.
Founded in 2015, Young Dabang now boasts over 400 outlets worldwide, including in the USA, Australia, Thailand, Vietnam, and Japan. It has taken the world by storm with its signature 35cm ultra-long chewy rice cakes and retro 1980s Korean café aesthetic. The brand name reflects its concept—“Young” stands for youthful energy beyond age, while “Dabang” pays homage to the vibrant coffee shops of 1980s Korea, then popular neighborhood hangouts. The new Causeway Bay branch aims to continue delivering exciting modern Korean cuisine, becoming a new hotspot for food lovers on Hong Kong Island.
The Causeway Bay location spans 2,200 sq. ft., with 86 seats, and continues the brand’s vintage Korean café theme, featuring warm earth-tone wooden décor, retro posters, and signature teal accents. With Korean pop music and ambient lighting, the space offers a relaxed, energetic, and nostalgic dining atmosphere.
At the centre of the menu is the build-your-own Tteokbokki Pot. It features the brand’s famous 35cm rice cakes, made with a proprietary golden-ratio recipe imported directly from Korea, simmered in a generous pot with fish cakes, quail eggs, fried dumplings, ramen, and fresh vegetables.
Guests can choose from five distinctive soup bases: YDB Signature Sauce, Korean Rosé Sauce, Carbonara Sauce, Mala Sauce, and Hong Kong Exclusive Corn Cream Sauce. Sauces have been specially adjusted for local palates, ensuring even those with lower spice tolerance can enjoy the full experience.
Debuting in Hong Kong for the first time, Dabang Pork Back Rib Tteokbokki Pot features tender, juicy pork backbone simmered in a spicy braised pork rib sauce. The pot includes soft potatoes, fresh cabbage, Chinese flowering cabbage, bouncy fish cakes, fragrant minced garlic, and crisp scallions, along with ramen and rice cakes for added texture and depth—perfect for sharing!
For an unforgettable feast, Young Dabang recommends these standout dishes:
- Cheese Fried Chicken Tteokbokki Pot– Crispy, juicy fried chicken draped in a molten cheese cascade.
- Fried King Squid Tteokbokki Pot– Tender calamari with a golden crunch, perfectly paired with the rich tteokbokki base.
Complete the meal by adding premium toppings like tempura shrimp or smoked beef short plate, and don’t miss the Flying Fish Roe Seaweed Fried Rice—fried tableside in the remaining sauce for a flavour-packed finale.
Beyond the signature Tteokbokki, the menu also showcases authentic Korean classics, including:
YDB Chicken– Freshly hand-cut, slow-cooked, and baked daily. Choose from six flavours, including Honey Garlic and Smoked Black Pepper.
Sot Bap– Fragrant rice topped with generous servings of Karubi Beef or Pork Belly Jang Sot Bap.
Umma’s Mega Gimbap – A healthier, generously filled kimbap inspired by homestyle Korean cooking. Fillings including Tender Chicken, Tuna Mayo, and Hotdog.
Young Dabang offers a variety of lunch sets. In addition to five options of Korean-style sot bap, the newly launched Galbitang with Udon, served with Umama’s Mega Gimbap of the Day, is also available. Each set includes tempura shrimp, deep-fried oyster, and a complimentary drink.
