KNOT KNOT HAPPY NEW YEAR
KNOT KNOT HAPPY NEW YEAR

To welcome the Year of the Horse, Times Square launches “KNOT KNOT HAPPY NEW YEAR,” a vibrant auspicious celebration running from now through 3 March 2026. Centred on the auspicious Ruyi Knot, a symbol of good fortune and success, the event masterfully weaves traditional Chinese craftsmanship with contemporary aesthetics. Through stunning large-scale art installations and interactive experiences, it ties good luck, heartfelt blessings, and hope into every corner, delivering abundant auspiciousness and prosperity. The 2/F Atrium features a 4.5-metre giant peach blossom tree along with Ruyi Knot decorations visible everywhere, symbolising rolling wealth and flourishing connections. During the festive period, Times Square will present a variety of celebratory activities, including live Fai Chun writing by renowned calligrapher Master Chan Kam Fat, along with live performances, instant portrait drawing, and traditional craft workshops, allowing visitors to savour the true spirit of New Year in a joyful, lively atmosphere.

Open Piazza’s Five Auspicious Knot Decorations Deliver Heartfelt Wishes

The Ruyi Knot has long symbolised good luck, success and connection. This Lunar New Year, Times Square centres on the Ruyi Knot, representing the tying of blessings and linking everyone closely to their aspirations and good fortune. The Open Piazza features five themed festive decorations that fuse traditional New Year elements with modern aesthetics. Visitors can join the “Craft Your Own Knot” interactive experience by simply scanning a QR code to learn hands-on knot-tying, using provided lucky ropes to secure personal wishes and attaching the creation to designated spots, joining the festive setup as good luck multiplies with every knot tied.

Upon entering the Open Piazza, the 3.5-meter giant “Fortune Ruyi Knot” immediately catches the eye, featuring a central golden knot symbolizing wealth and fulfilment. Adorned with pink and purple tassels, this centerpiece exudes a vibrant festive atmosphere. The circular platform is adorned with three-dimensional Ruyi Knots, embedded with concealed lighting that keeps the giant knot illuminated day and night that signifying good fortune shining brightly throughout the year.

Continuing along the path leads to the immersive “Auspicious Lantern Corridor” light-and-shadow space, composed of countless festive lanterns and Ruyi Knots layered and interlaced to create a warm and joyous ambiance. As night falls, the warm lights illuminate the surroundings, enveloping visitors in a magical atmosphere filled with blessings as they welcome the New Year.

Behind the “Auspicious Lantern Corridor” stands the interactive “Knot Knot Blossom Dome,” a dreamy semi-circular installation covered in three-dimensional flowers in shades of pink and purple, with mirrored kaleidoscopes perfect for selfies. It’s set to become a favourite New Year spot. Scan the QR code on 5/F for “Craft Your Own Knot” tutorials, and hang your wishes on the blessing frames.

Along the sides, four “Fortune Kaleidoscope” installations shaped like traditional firecrackers add extra charm. Each is topped with a giant Ruyi Knot symbolizing reunion and connection, while the central hexagonal kaleidoscope reflects endless “Fortune” characters and festive patterns, creating a kaleidoscopic effect that signifies continued good fortune and abundant blessings for 2026.

The “Jubilant Double Knot” offers a modern interpretation of the traditional Ruyi Knot, featuring sharp lines and vibrant colours. A pair of contrasting knots in purple and gold radiates energy, and their centres adorned with gold-silver mirrors and manually rotatable, allowing everyone to personally invite fortune and prosperity into the new year.

Extending Blessings to the 2/F Atrium with Giant Peach Blossom Tree

Festive joy flows from the Open Piazza up to the 2/F Atrium, where the Ruyi Knot theme continues throughout the overall design. At the centre stands a 4.5-metre giant peach blossom tree placed in a golden ingot-inspired artistic installation rich in colour layers, symbolizing wealth and prosperity. Flanking it are two large decorative setups: one themed around a weaving loom, weaving endless blessings with vibrant fabrics and ropes; and the other featuring a richly layered “Velvet Warmth Ruyi Wall” covered in velvet knots of different sizes, overflowing with good fortune and wishing every visitor a harmonious, fulfilling year.
