LOEWE New Year collection 2026
LOEWE New Year collection 2026

LOEWE celebrates the Year of the Horse with a short film featuring LOEWE Global Brand Ambassador Wang Yibo, and a series of events inspired by Chinese lanterns – symbols of reunion, hope and courage during the festive season.

Honouring Chinese craft to celebrate the new year is an annual LOEWE tradition. For 2026, an animated short film has been co-created by LOEWE and the Shanghai Animation Film Studio, paying homage to Peng Wenxi’s classic fable ‘Little Horse Crossing the River’. The film follows a young horse who sets off to fetch lanterns for the village and meets a deer, a platypus and Wang Yibo along the way. The film illuminates a story of self-belief and courage, and reflects LOEWE’s continued affinity with Chinese animation craft and literary heritage.

Inspired by the spirit of the horse, the New Year collection features iconic LOEWE designs including special editions of the Puzzle and Amazona 31 cropped bags adorned with hand-knotted fringes and tassels inspired by a horse’s mane, while charms and dice take the playful shape of the endearing creature. Leather overshirts, much like the one created for Wang Yibo and worn by the actor in the short film, will also be exclusively available in select stores in China. An accompanying campaign photographed by Nick Yang features Wang Yibo. Model Wei Yiting brings a complementary presence to the imagery.

Celebrating the history and craft of traditional Chinese lantern art, two lantern displays will take place in Shanghai and Chengdu. In Shanghai, a lantern display will be held in the garden square in front of CASA LOEWE Shanghai, drawing inspiration from the adorable creatures and Chinese landscapes featured in the film. At LOEWE Gaozhai, Chengdu, sun and horse lanterns will integrate with the festive New Year window display and pop-in, bringing a harmonious celebration of light and tradition to the space.

Beyond these displays, a special activation will take place at Nanjing Yuyuan Garden, a historic landmark in the city. Themed lantern creations, integrating key LOEWE designs, architectural aesthetics of the garden and New Year traditions, will bring a vibrant celebration of light to life.
