Givenchy presents The Plage Collection for Summer 2024
Givenchy presents The Plage Collection for Summer 2024

Givenchy presents a Givenchy Plage collection with an extended assortment of playful, effortless, and elegant essentials for women and men.

First launched in 2023, Givenchy Plage is inspired by the joie de vivre and laid-back refinement of Le Clos Fiorentina, Hubert de Givenchy’s summer estate in Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat. Building on the spirit of that magical retreat, the Givenchy Plage capsule collection plays on key House signatures — the couturier’s passion for noble French linen, a favorite print inspired by his lemon grove, and nautical or Provençal stripes — now revisited with modern cuts and paired with summery iterations of statement accessories like the Voyou bag, now in raffia with contrasting leather accents, or the G-Tote bag in soft raffia.

Playful, sun-kissed looks begin with the essentials — bathing suits, hats, beach totes — and expand on the art of summer dressing with an array of lightweight, easy-to-layer pieces. For women, crop tops, tanks, breezy button-downs and terry cover-ups can mix with a flirty skirt or pajama pants in linen. After sundown, satiny, sheer and textured treatments embody glamorous evenings by the sea.

Givenchy’s love of linen was apparent with his first collection, in February 1952, a début that captured clients’ imagination with its elegance and the concept of separates. Throughout his storied career, Monsieur de Givenchy favored a linen Atelier coat; later in his career the couturier recounted that Greta Garbo had admired it, so he made one for her to wear as a beach cover-up. With Givenchy Plage, Givenchy honors that history and casts a fresh eye on a long-lasting, legacy fabric that is water-wise, zero-waste, traceable, and timeless.

In that spirit, luxuriously comfortable linen and cotton terry jacquard are used for swimwear, cover-ups and separates in shades of aqua green or coral, in navy nautical stripes or in leopard print discreetly embellished with the 4G emblem. Essential pool-to-patio cover-ups come in caftan or jacket lengths, in linen with sky blue stripes, in lemon-print silk twill or in light, fluid ivory silk linen. Striped summer knits, white denim staples and polo shapes pair effortlessly with a bold new platform mule in natural cork and butterfly-frame sunglasses —in classic black, Havana, and white or seasonal aqua and coral — embellished at the temples with a gold-finish 4G Liquid logo.

Men’s wear also stars Provençal linen trousers and a lemon-print shirt that go effortlessly with essentials like structured shirts in linen, Japanese seersucker, and striped organic silk and summery hues of sunbaked red, cool navy, sandy beige or ecru. An exclusive graphic design called “Le Clos 52” – an Italianate nod to Givenchy’s estate and the year he opened his couture house – features on a t-shirt that pairs easily with leisurewear staples that move seamlessly from the vibrancy of urban living to the serenity of a coastal lifestyle.
